My Very Dear Liafians,
At the outset, let me congratulate all those who worked hard for making the 14th General Council Meet held at Delhi on the 7th and 8th of February a great Success. Full marks should be given to our Delhi Team and their leadership for having organized an outstanding event on all counts in the form of 14th LIAFI General Council Meet. An unprecedented turnout at the Meeting from every nook and corner of the Country only heralds a rosy future for our beloved organization LIAFI in the years to come.
We had the opportunity to hear to over 200 Agent Leaders in the GC Meeting, dwelling upon varied interests and concerns of our colleagues of various parts of India. I thank each one of these leaders who gave us insights into various genuine issues pertaining to LIC Agents. We quite realise the paramount responsibility bestowed upon our shoulders unanimously by all of you. I swear to be worthy of your confidence, together with our devoted Secretary General, Tiger Shyamal Chakrabarty, our well-informed Senior LIAFI Leaders who form our Advisory Committee and the highly commendable Zonal and Divisional Leaders of LIAFI. During immediate past term lead by President Mr. N.C.Chandak and Secretary General Mr. Shyamal Chakrabarty LIAFI achieved some of the significant successes.
Organisationally, LIAFI had marched ahead with greater achievements:
These are only some of the more significant achievements. However, the challenges ahead are many. As competition is fiercely increasing Management is desperately bringing in close ended products giving deadlines to the Branch Management which is hampering Quality Advise to the customer. The best thing about LIC or its Agent is the unstinted confidence reposed by the Customer and their reach. When our Advise is driven by Targets and Deadlines, the faith reposed in us recedes and in the process we may get some instant business but in the long run, lose out the Market Share to our Competitors. We must check this. The existing plans can address almost all insurance need of people. The new ways of Premium Payment through ECS in all modes, Payment through Internet can be leveraged to go closer to the Modern Day customers who enjoy using these tools. Agents' empowerment to collect premia and issue receipts is also a welcome sign. The focus on getting New Customer should not eliminate our vision on service issues. Policy Service standards need to be stepped up in tune with the customer expectation. The service extended to Agents through the Agents' Portal remains an eye wash. This could be stepped up by the Corporation effortlessly. Very shortly LIAFI will have its first Executive Committee Meeting in which a final strategy for the next three years to come will be chalked out in presence of all National, Zonal and Divisional Leaders and our Advisory Committee. We wish to crystallize all our pending issues into a Charter of Demands and chalk out an action plan to achieve them at all levels. Branch Associations, Divisional and Zonal Councils will have enough agenda to work on focusing on achievement on the Charter of Demands. We look forward from all our friends for ideas and suggestions to the National Council regarding any matter pertaining to Agents' and Industry Welfare that can be taken up by LIAFI. In the meanwhile, the financial year 2008-09 is coming to an end and we wish Agents to be in the market persistently lighting the lamp of Life Insurance in as many households as possible as we have an unending market in our threshold. May the lost ground in the Market Share be regained by the end of the FY '09 and all the Agents are happy having achieved bountiful of business for the year. Yours in LIAFI,
